A new species of Passiflora subgen. Astrophea sect. Capreolata, Passiflora bacabensis, has been collected in a typical cerrado environment (savanna) in the Parque Municipal do Bacaba (Bacaba Municipal Park), Mato Grosso state, Brazil. This species show similarities to P. cerradensis, especially when dried in the herbarium. Here, we present a description, illustrations, a distribution map, an identification key the Brazilian species of P. sect. Capreolata and the conservation status of Passiflora bacabensis.
